Tips For a Successful Move
Every year, millions of people around the world move for a new job, to start a family, because of family illness, or for a change of scenery. People who move all share in the stress and anxiety associated with moving. This article will provide
moving tips that will make any move less stressful and easier on those participating. The most important thing to remember when planning a move is to plan ahead. You can never start preparing for a move too early.
It is best to prepare for a move about four to six weeks before the actual move date. Preparing this early will allow extra time should unpredictable mishaps occur. About six weeks before your move date, you should begin to purchase or collect moving boxes from either stores, or work; a box for reams of paper is an excellent moving box. Once you have collected your boxes, it is best to start packing items that are not used on a daily basis. Completing these two simple steps early in the moving process can eliminate a lot of stress, and make your move more enjoyable.
Next, you will need to decide if you want to move yourself, or if you want to hire movers to assist you in your move. Neither of these options is necessarily better than the other, your decision will simply depend on how comfortable you are lifting items. If you do decide to go with a moving service, it is important that you thoroughly investigate the different companies you are considering. Additionally, if you will be renting a moving truck yourself, shop around for the best price in order to get the best deal, and save some money. If you decide to proceed without the assistance of a
moving company, at a minimum, you may need assistance from a friend moving heavy items.
The next step necessary to make your move successful is to begin packing your other possessions around three weeks before your move date. When you are packing your things, make sure you label the boxes with a room designation. This will make unpacking much easier and less stressful. There is nothing worse than moving into a new house or apartment and having no idea where your boxes belong. Additionally, pack a box of things you will need immediately such as toiletries, a change of clothes, towels, a shower curtain, and other immediate necessities.
Lastly, make sure to carefully package all of your breakable possessions well before your move date. You do not want to rush this process as rushing will almost always lead to a low quality job resulting in damage. At this time it would also be wise to disassemble large items such as desks, and entertainment centers. If you assembled an item within your house, there is a good chance that it will need to be disassembled in order to exit the house upon your move date. Following these simple tips will result in a stress free and successful move.
