Moving Supplies

Things Needed So Your Move Goes Smoothly

There are many different items necessary to make a move of any kind go smoothly. The most important item that you will need is moving boxes, lots and lots of boxes. Additionally, you will need other supplies such as tape, padding, and potentially a crate if you have a flat screen plasma or LCD television. Along with these items necessary to move, you will also need a good set of tools, a dolly, and a lot of time. Moving can be very time consuming, so it is recommended that you get help moving to make the process as smooth as possible.

Many people do not take the time to consider all of the necessary items needed to complete a move successfully. One of the most important items needed for a smooth move is plenty of moving boxes. These boxes can be purchased at moving stores, or larger retail stores. Additionally, if you'd like to save some money, or you are short on cash, you can get free boxes from local supermarkets or retail establishments. Wherever you get your boxes, make sure they are strong enough to hold the items you plan on using them to move.

Next, you will need other packaging supplies to help your move be as seamless as possible. Now that you have your boxes, you need some tape to hold the boxes together. The best type of tape to purchase is packaging tape with thin string running throughout the roll. This type of tape is stronger that ordinary thick tape, and will keep your boxes held together even under extreme strain from over packing or mishandling. Additionally, you should purchase a thick marker to mark the destination room of each box, as well as bubble wrap to protect your most delicate collectibles and kitchen items.

Once you have all of your moving supplies at your residence, it will be time to use your tool set. Many of the items you need to move will be easier to transport if they are taken apart. Bookcases, tables, chairs, and desks are often easier to disassemble and reassemble rather than forcing through door jams and other tight areas. In some scenarios, it may be impossible to move an item out of a current residence without disassembling it first. Although this may take a lot of time, a dolly, and assistance from a friend, will make the moving process much smoother and stress free.

You may also want to ask a friend to help perform simple tasks such as wrapping dishes, or assembling boxes. Two people working together can definitely make a move go smoother, but even more help can drastically reduce the amount of time needed for moving. Ask a few friends to help you move for a day. You will be surprised at home willing people are to help, and at how quickly a move can be when four people are working together. Following these steps will definitely make your next move a smooth move rather than a stressful move.
